If I could sit down with every woman over a cup of coffee, I’d tell her this: it’s never too late to feel stronger, healthier, and more energized.
After more than 35 years of helping women improve their health and fitness, I’ve learned that lasting results don’t come from fad diets or extreme workouts. They come from simple, consistent habits that support your body every day.
Here are seven habits that can help you build strength for life.
1. Strength Train Regularly
Strength training helps preserve muscle, strengthen bones, improve balance, and make everyday activities easier. You don’t have to lift heavy—you just have to start and that can be using resistance bands, weights or bodyweight – think wall pushups and squats! Give this workout a try: https://youtu.be/Rd87c6-T8XE?si=y9DihU26yxCkQX_Q It’s beginner friendly and goes over some basic movements in just 30 minutes!
2. Prioritize Protein
Protein helps build and maintain muscle while keeping you satisfied throughout the day. Aim to include a quality source of protein with every meal and pair it with fiber and healthy fats!
3. Make Sleep a Priority
Sleep is when your body restores and repairs itself. Quality sleep supports energy, recovery, mood, and overall well-being.

4. Move Every Day
Movement doesn’t always have to be a workout. Walking, stretching, gardening, dancing, or playing with your kids or grandkids all count. The goal is simply to keep moving. Mobility training is great for everyday movement and is essential for pre workout strength, sport specific or cardio training.
5. Challenge Your Balance
Balance is something we often take for granted until it becomes difficult. A few minutes of balance practice each day can improve confidence and stability.
6. Manage Stress
Stress affects every system in the body. Taking time to breathe, pray, journal, walk outside, or simply slow down can make a remarkable difference. Box or square breathing is a game changer and a quick way to reduce stress.
7. Choose Consistency Over Perfection
Healthy living isn’t about being perfect. It’s about making good choices more often than not and giving yourself grace along the way. Start with one habit this week. Small changes practiced consistently can lead to incredible results.

Because strength isn’t about looking younger…it’s about living stronger. Here’s to building strength for life—one workout, one healthy choice, and one day at a time.
